Omakase at Osai Sushi Ingye: Every Bite Was a Delight!

Me, a hardcore meat lover, finally decided to take sushi seriously.
At Osai Sushi Ingye, every single bite made me go… wow.
This time I went for the Omakase Dinner Set ^^

First Impressions: The Exterior & Entrance

[ "The lighting was almost… divine."]

  • Strictly on-time reservation only: They let you in exactly at your reserved time.

They have phone chargers in the waiting room, so if you arrive early, just chill and wait!

As soon as you enter, the chef is ready and waiting.
The tableware? Spotless and elegant—just what you'd expect from omakase.

Here’s the menu

Let’s get to the food review!

1. Chawanmushi (Japanese Egg Custard)

  • Steaming hot, silky-smooth—like savory egg porridge.
  • Honestly, I never knew eggs could taste and feel like this! (My first omakase, ever!)

2. Sashimi (Raw Fish)

  • Flatfish, Salmon, Whelk
The flatfish was firm, the salmon was rich and oily, and the whelk had a chewy bounce.
Super-thin slices dipped in soy sauce and wasabi—totally different from your average supermarket or corner seafood shop.

3. Miso Soup

  • Honestly… not that different from any other miso soup, haha. (Miso soup is just miso soup!)

4. 10-Piece Sushi Set

This is where the magic happened!

  • Sea Bream Sushi with Yuzu Zest
The clean taste of sea bream meets zesty yuzu—it’s like an “air conditioner” for your mouth.
Never knew yuzu could work so well with sushi.

  • Soy Sauce-Brushed Salmon Sushi
The soy sauce brings out the best in the salmon. The moment it hit my tongue, I just thought, “Man, I’m happy.”
  • Medium Fatty Tuna (Chutoro)
Melt-in-your-mouth softness. I was THIS close to begging for seconds.
Sadly, I was too distracted by the flavors and forgot to take photos of these two… 😭

  • Soy-Marinated Shrimp Sushi
Firm, sweet shrimp, with a deep umami punch—perfect with the rice. (Only got one piece, which was a shame!)

Mackerel
Not sushi, just straight-up mackerel. I usually don’t like fish, but this changed my mind!
No fishy smell—just moist, deep flavor.

  • Seared Swordfish Sushi
A whiff of smokiness with every bite—the seared crust really brings out the flavor.

  • Sushi with Monkfish Liver Paste
Rich, creamy monkfish liver on top. Store-bought sushi? Can’t compare!

  • Scallop Sushi (Off-menu Treat!)
Chewy, sweet, and a surprise bonus since it’s not normally on the set menu!

  • Eggplant Tempura Sushi
Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. I never liked eggplant before, but this changed everything.

  • Vinegared Deep-sea Mackerel (Shimesaba) Sushi
Deeper, richer than regular mackerel. The tangy marinade made it super fresh.
(“Saba” actually means mackerel—didn’t know until today! ^^;;;)

5. Udon

Bouncy noodles, rich broth—a hearty finish!

6. Omija Tea + Cranberry

  • Sweet, tangy, and the perfect ending. Cleanses your palate and leaves you refreshed!

Bonus: Tokkuri & Highball

At Osai, you’re required to order at least one drink per person.
My friend went for tokkuri (warm sake), I picked a highball.
The sake’s warmth really soothed me, while the highball was super refreshing.
Sipping slowly at a cozy table—simple but so satisfying.
That’s happiness right there!

Today’s Summary

  • Started with warm chawanmushi
  • Fell for the fresh sashimi
  • Savored each and every sushi
  • Finished with dessert and tea

Every course, every bite made me feel like I was ticking off another bucket-list moment.
Sometimes you gotta take a break from meat—try omakase for a change. Totally worth it!

One thing I wish was better…

  • The off-menu scallop sushi was a nice surprise,
  • But I was really hoping for futomaki (big roll), which was missing. Left me a little hungry at the end!
  • I had a great time, but honestly… I could’ve eaten more, haha.
  • “The free scallop sushi made me happy, but without futomaki, I left a little unfulfilled.”
(Was that a little bit of a bait-and-switch?!)

Next time, I’m ordering both! (For real!!!)
